Description

Silver lotus scissors – as jewellery!
Sterling Silver with full Sheffield Hallmarks
9ct Gold accents.
Overall length – 38mm (1.5”)
Blade length – 14mm (0.5”)
These initial three scissors were the first tentative steps into doing a small batch run of silver scissors that were suitable for jewellery. I had carved the originals out of steel but changes had to be made to reflect the difference characteristics of both the material and the manufacturing technique. These are an intermediate step – made from silver, but hand fettled from castings that lacked the desired refinement. Because of this, they are all unique.
The surface of the silver has a dark patina but when worn, the high spots will become bright. This is entirely normal.
They have gold highlights on the shanks and a gold pivot pin. Ideally, the gold jump-rings should be soldered shut if you decide that you wish them to remain permanently.
I enjoy sharing my designing and making process so please follow me on social media to see this piece (and others) being made.
I hope that you enjoy your scissors
